Elon Musk has just unveiled a new Roadster from Tesla Motors, it is the followup version of its original sports car.
This is going to be the fastest production car ever made, according to Elon Musk. With speeds of just 1.9 seconds for 0 to 60 miles per hour, 4.2 seconds for 0 to 100 miles per hour. It handles a quarter-mile in under 8.9 seconds.
“This is the base model,” Musk said, then went on to mention that its top speed is above 250 mph. and it has a 200 kWh battery pack that offers 630 miles of highway driving range.
Guess What? This is going to be a 2 by 2 four-seater, and it’s available in 2020 starting at $200,000, with the first 1,000 sold being Founder’s Series models that will retail for $250,000 a piece. Which is a steal for the fastest production car ever.
Imagine being called the worlds fastest production car ever, means that it’s going to be quite a bit faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder, Mclaren P1, Bugatti Chiron, Veyron, Koenigsegg Agera R, Hennesy Venom GT, La Ferrari. All these cars sit near the 1 million dollar mark and some handily crossing that. Goes to say a lot about this newly launched, efficient and relatively affordable roadster.
The crowd was awestruck when Musk revealed the new Roadster from the Semi Trucks cargo bay. The car also blazed up the runway at the hangar where the event was being held, before pulling to a stop and being flanked by the two new Tesla Semi trucks on either side.
Musk calls it, “a hardcore smackdown to gasoline cars.” I concur and agree with him.
Although, you are going to have to wait quite a bit for it as it won’t be available anytime before 2020 and if we were to go by the deadline adherence of Tesla, I would say extend the due date by another year.
