OnePlus 5T vs OnePlus 5

The new OnePlus 5T by OnePlus was launched recently with some top-notch specifications. This new phone might annoy the previous OnePlus 5 users, which was launched a few months back.  Both phones are almost of same price tag with a minimal price difference but new 5T has some cool upgrades.

Compare the look and design:

The main difference between the two is that OnePlus 5T offers the latest bezel-less display with 18:9 screen aspect ratio, while the OnePlus 5 has normal 16:9 aspect ratio.  New 5T has ditched the physical home button with a fingerprint sensor and moved it to the back panel.

If we compare the dimensions, then new 5T comes with 156.1x75x7.3mm dimensions in Midnight Black color and previous 5 came with 154.2×74.1×7.25mm dimensions with color variants including Midnight Black, Slate Gray, and Soft Gold.

Compare the specifications:

According to the specifications, the OnePlus 5T bears almost same specifications as the OnePlus 5 smartphone. The only noticeable exceptions are the screen aspect ratio and the dual camera setup. Both features full-HD and 1080×1920 pixels resolution with full-optic AMOLED display. New 5T powered by quad-core Snapdragon 835 SoC which is clocked at up to 2.45 GHz Frequency and the old 5 is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC which is clocked at up to 1.9 GHz Frequency. Both are backed by a 3300mAh non-removable battery with the fast charging system.

Compare the camera:

In the all-new dual camera setup on the OnePlus 5T, the company has replaced the telephoto lens with a large aperture one. Both have a similar primary sensor of 16 MP Sony IMX398 with an aperture of f/1.7. The secondary sensor of the new phone is a 20 MP Sony IMX376K. But in the previous phone, the sensor was 20 MP Sony IMX350. Here is the only difference in the camera.

Compare the software:

The new phone has the same Android Nougat 7.1.1 as the previous one. The new feature in the new phone is the face recognition unlock feature just like new iPhone X which is missing in the previous OnePlus 5. Soon the Android Oreo 8.0 upgrade will be available to the users in December.

Compare the price in India:

New OnePlus 5T prices Rs. 32,999 for the first variant of 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and Rs. 37,999 for the other variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage in India.
